These 1:1 ratio (i.e. non-geared) pegs are manufactured by Gotoh, the well-known Japanese maker of high quality musical instrument hardware, the synthetic Marvel Violin pegs feature a hard aluminum shaft for durability and polycarbonate buttons for good looks and easy maintenance. Most Rickert & Ringholz instruments are fit with the Gotoh Marvel Pegs with the internal planetary geared Perfection Pegs (a.k.a. Pegheads) as an upgrade option. The Gotoh pegs are so smooth that fine tuners are not absolutely necessary; although we do recommend tailpiece fine tuners for all non-geared pegs, at least on the E string.

 

While wooden violin pegs shrink and swell with humidity and temperature changes, the all-synthetic Gotoh Marvel violin pegs maintain their original shape and smoothness for their lifetime. Easy and smooth to operate, the Gotoh Marvel pegs, unaffected by atmospheric changes won’t stick or slip, making it easier to tune a violin or viola. The torque of each peg can be easily adjusted.




The Gotoh Marvel Peg installation tool ($6) is absolutely necessary for installing these pegs. Also, it is essential that the instrument peg holes have never been enlarged (i.e. reamed) beyond approximately 7.5 mm (9/32”). Professional installation is highly recommended.
